We do not intentionally ask for sensitive personal information for ordinary ecommerce orders. Please do not include health information, government ID details, or other sensitive information in order notes or support messages unless it is genuinely necessary and specifically requested. New Zealand guidance stresses that personal information should only be collected where it is necessary for a lawful purpose.
4. How we collect personal information
We may collect personal information:
- directly from you when you place an order, contact us, or sign up for email or SMS
- automatically through cookies, pixels, server logs, analytics tools, and similar technologies when you use our website
- from service providers that support our ecommerce operations, such as payment, fraud-prevention, fulfilment, shipping, analytics, and communications providers
- in limited cases, from advertising or analytics partners where those tools are enabled
5. Why we collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information
We may collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information to:
- process and fulfil orders
- take payment and send order confirmations, invoices, and shipping updates
- arrange delivery, returns, refunds, replacements, or customer support

- send marketing communications where you have subscribed or where otherwise permitted by law
- measure advertising performance and personalise promotions where relevant tools are used
- meet legal, tax, accounting, and record-keeping obligations
- protect our business, customers, staff, website, and legal rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, personal information should be collected for a lawful purpose connected with an organisation’s functions or activities, and disclosure is generally expected to stay within the original or directly related purpose unless another permitted ground applies.
6. Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies
We use cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies to support the operation of our website and understand how it is used.
These technologies may help us:
- keep the site and checkout working properly
- remember preferences
- measure traffic and website performance
- understand product and page engagement
- improve customer experience
- support advertising measurement or remarketing
Some of these tools may be provided by third parties and may collect information such as IP address, browser details, page activity, or similar identifiers.
You can usually manage cookies through your browser settings. If we provide an on-site cookie or privacy settings tool, you may also use that tool to adjust available choices. Disabling some cookies may affect how parts of the site function.
7. Marketing communications
If you subscribe to receive marketing from us, we may send you promotional emails or SMS about products, offers, restocks, and related store updates.
You can opt out at any time:
- for email, by using the unsubscribe link in the message
- for SMS, by following the opt-out instructions in the message using the same communication method where required
- by contacting us at support@fluffypuppypetstore.com
Under New Zealand’s Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007, commercial electronic messages generally need consent, clear sender identification, and a functioning unsubscribe facility. New Zealand guidance also says the unsubscribe method should be easy to use, free of charge, and use the same medium where required, such as SMS unsubscribe by SMS rather than by email.
8. When we share personal information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We may share personal information with trusted third parties that help us operate our business, including:
- ecommerce platform and hosting providers
- payment processors and checkout providers
- fraud-prevention and security providers
- warehousing, fulfilment, shipping, and delivery partners
- customer service, email, SMS, and communications providers
- analytics and advertising providers
- professional advisers and service providers supporting our operations
- legal, regulatory, government, or law-enforcement authorities where required or permitted by law
We aim to limit sharing to what is reasonably needed for the relevant service or lawful business purpose.
9. Overseas disclosure
Because we operate an international ecommerce business, some personal information may be processed or accessed outside New Zealand.
This may happen when we use service providers, cloud systems, payment providers, support tools, analytics tools, advertising partners, or fulfilment partners located in or operating from other countries.
These locations may include the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Economic Area, Canada, Australia, and countries in Asia or other regions where our providers or fulfilment partners operate.
New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 includes specific rules on disclosure outside New Zealand under Information Privacy Principle 12. We aim to disclose personal information overseas only where we believe, on reasonable grounds, that the recipient is subject to privacy protections that provide comparable safeguards, or where another permitted basis applies under New Zealand law.
10. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy and for related legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and business needs.
Typical retention periods may include:
- order and transaction records: up to 6 years, or longer where required by law
- customer service correspondence: up to 2 years after the last interaction
- marketing preferences and consent records: until you unsubscribe and for a reasonable period afterwards to maintain suppression records
- analytics and security logs: for the period set by the relevant tool or system configuration
When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we aim to delete it, anonymise it, or securely destroy it. New Zealand privacy principles include limits on retention and require organisations to avoid keeping personal information for longer than needed.
11. Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed for an online retail business to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, or misuse.
These measures may include:
- encrypted website connections
- access controls
- provider access management
- fraud monitoring
- internal limitation of access on a need-to-know basis
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. If you believe your information has been used without authorisation, please contact us promptly. New Zealand privacy principles require reasonable security safeguards when personal information is held.
12. Access and correction
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading.
To make a request, contact us at support@fluffypuppypetstore.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Under the Privacy Act 2020, organisations generally need to respond to access requests as soon as reasonably practicable and no later than 20 working days after receiving the request. New Zealand law also gives individuals a right to request correction of personal information.
13. Accuracy
We try to take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information we use or disclose is accurate, up to date, complete, relevant, and not misleading.
If your contact details or other information change, please let us know so we can keep our records current. New Zealand’s Privacy Act specifically expects organisations to check accuracy before using or disclosing personal information.
14. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, please contact us first so we have a chance to review it and try to resolve it.
Contact: support@fluffypuppypetstore.com
If you are not satisfied with our response, or if we do not respond within 30 days, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand. The Commissioner’s guidance says people should generally raise the issue with the business first, and if there is no response within 30 days or the response is unsatisfactory, they can then lodge a complaint.
15. Children
Our store is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children as part of ordinary ecommerce activity.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate involvement from a parent or guardian, please contact us.
16. Automated tools
We may use automated tools for analytics, fraud screening, advertising measurement, and store operations.
We do not use solely automated decision-making to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on customers in the ordinary course of operating our store.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our business practices, technology, service providers, or legal requirements.
When we update it, we will post the revised version on this page and change the “Last updated” date.
